Laryngeal Masks
Laryngeal masks, also known as laryngeal mask airways (LMAs), are medical devices used to maintain a patent airway and facilitate ventilation in patients who require anesthesia or are unable to breathe on their own. They are an alternative to endotracheal intubation.
A laryngeal mask consists of a soft, flexible tube with an inflatable cuff and a mask-like structure at the distal end. The mask is designed to sit in the hypopharynx, just above the larynx, and forms a seal to prevent air leakage during ventilation.
Laryngeal masks are generally considered to be easier to insert than endotracheal tubes and may result in less trauma to the airway. They are commonly used during short surgical procedures or in situations where endotracheal intubation may not be feasible or necessary. Shop name brands like Ambu, Telefax and more today!
